| Choice | Reason to choose it | Payment boundary | What to check before leaving Noom |
|---|---|---|---|
| 123 Cal, our app | Editable meal estimates with calories and protein remaining | Listing advertises first 3 days free; Pro required for continued scanning [1][2] | This recommendation does not include a replacement for Noom's lessons or human support |
| MyNetDiary | An ad-free free food diary with barcode and macro (protein, carbs and fat) tracking | Core tracking is free; Premium and Premium Plus add features [5] | Whether its diary is enough without the program you used |
| Cronometer Basic | Food records, nutrient detail and your own recipes | Basic is ongoing free access; Gold removes ads and adds features [6] | Whether you want the extra nutrient information |
| Keep Noom or check its free experience | Keep familiar tools or the support you still value | Free access has location and account conditions; free food logging is US-only [3] | A free green-food goal is different from choosing a full daily calorie-and-macro diary |
Noom describes Weight as a program with daily lessons, food and other tracking tools, community and support. Its program comparison places access to health coaches under premium members. Check the support included in your own plan rather than assuming every offer provides the same service. [4]
Look at your recent use. If you still open lessons, ask questions or rely on the community, a diary-only replacement may leave a gap. If you mostly enter lunch and check your daily intake, compare food-entry tools and their ongoing cost.
OUR RECOMMENDATION · OUR OWN APP
1. 123 Cal: our recommendation for a meal-and-protein diary
Open the App Store ↗English UI. Developer-supplied iPhone images, not our test results. Official source.
Consider 123 Cal when you want to record the meal you ate and see the day's remaining calories and protein. The public listing describes a meal photo with portion or preparation notes, an editable result, and corrections by voice or text before confirmation. Apple Watch features include remaining calories/protein, a recent-meal shortcut and a dictated meal description. [1]
If all you need after the lessons is a way to enter food and review the estimate, this routine may suit you. It does not replace a coach or cover Noom's teaching material.
For a restaurant lunch, add the details you know and check the proposed food and portion. A photo cannot establish hidden ingredients or exact quantities. Correcting an estimate is part of the task; we have not measured how 123 Cal and Noom compare on the same meals.
The US and Ukrainian listings advertise the first 3 days free, followed by Pro for continued scanning. Subscriptions renew automatically; the listing says to cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Check the offer for your account. Scanning does not stay free after the trial. [1][2]
If Noom's support is the part you would miss most, staying may make more sense. A different food diary is useful only if food logging is the service you want to replace.
For 123 Cal, check the App Store listing before subscribing.
2. MyNetDiary: keep a food log without a core-diary subscription

Features and access
MyNetDiary documents an ad-free free tier with a food diary, barcode scanning and macro tracking. Premium and Premium Plus add tools, so the free core should not be read as a promise that every AI or planning feature is included. [5]
If you have stopped using Noom's lessons and support, try the free diary before paying for another package. You can see whether keeping your own food record is enough.
Try a food you buy regularly and check its serving against the label. For a home-cooked meal, compare entering ingredients with starting from an estimate. Use those tasks to judge the daily effort. We have not checked regional food coverage or measured entry speed.
When to choose it or keep Noom
MyNetDiary fits someone who wants a free ad-free core and is comfortable keeping their own food record. Keep Noom on the shortlist if continuing support is still part of what you are buying.
3. Cronometer Basic: inspect the contents of your food record
English UI. Developer-supplied iPhone images, not our test results. Official source. From the press kit; images belong to the developer. No endorsement implied.
Cronometer Basic includes nutrient data, barcode scanning and custom meals and recipes. The company says you can keep using Basic without a forced upgrade. Gold adds features and removes ads. [6]
It fits a different post-Noom question: “I want to understand the nutrients in the foods I log.” You choose food records and portions, then review their details. More displayed nutrients do not establish that the entry represents your meal correctly, and they are not a diagnosis of your nutritional needs.
Choose it if that detail is useful. If your goal is simply an ad-free diary, MyNetDiary is the more direct free option in this shortlist. If you mainly want an editable photo routine with protein remaining in view, compare 123 Cal's trial instead.
First check the downgrade you actually qualify for
Noom's free-features page says users may have access with a current compatible app, a location in the United States, Canada or Australia, and a free account created on or after January 1, 2025. The account condition also includes paid subscriptions cancelled and reverted to free on or after that date. These conditions are not a promise that every former subscriber gets an identical free account. [3]
Food logging has a narrower location rule: the page limits it to the US. It describes Green Food Logging with Daily Goals, including photo and voice entry. You can log your daily food, but only calories from foods in the green category count toward the green goal. Do not assume this is the same view or target system you used in the paid program. [3]
For a reader in Ukraine, that documentation does not establish a free Noom food diary. Confirm your access before cancelling if continuing in the same app is the plan. We have not verified Ukrainian checkout or program availability.
This also means “get AI photos” is an incomplete reason to switch. Noom already describes photo and voice tools in the eligible free experience. The useful question is which totals, editing steps and ongoing access you need. [3]
Noom’s free-features help, retrieved on 13 October 2026 through a text-reader copy of the official page, still states these account and location conditions. Confirm the current free tools in your account before relying on a downgrade.
Leave the subscription and the records in good order
Before moving, note the meals you repeat, the goals you currently use and any history you need to retain. Do not assume that Noom lessons, messages, food-color records or diary history will import into a replacement. We have not verified a direct transfer into these apps. Ask about retention or export before closing an account if those records matter.
Try your familiar meals in the replacement while you still have access to Noom. If calorie tracking feels distressing or your goals are part of medical care, discuss the change with a qualified professional.
Noom's cancellation instructions distinguish in-app subscription management, its web subscription portal and store-billed subscriptions. Its help says uninstalling does not cancel a subscription and paid access continues until the current billing cycle ends. Use the route for the company that bills you and retain the confirmation. [7]
If you receive clinical care through Noom Med, contact the care team about continuity. Installing a food diary does not arrange a clinical handover.
Quick questions
Can I keep using Noom for free after cancelling?
Possibly, within the documented account and location conditions. The free-features page limits food logging to US users and describes a green-food goal. It does not establish the same free diary for Ukrainian readers. Check before relying on a downgrade. [3]
Which alternative replaces Noom's coaches?
The apps in this shortlist are food diaries. We have not established equivalent coaching services. If lessons, community or human support are the value you still use, check your current Noom plan before replacing it. [4]
Is 123 Cal the free option?
Its listing advertises the first 3 days free, then Pro for continued scanning. MyNetDiary and Cronometer document ongoing free core tracking. [1][5][6]
Does switching preserve my progress?
We cannot promise an automatic history transfer or the same health outcomes. Keep the records you need and assess the new routine on its own terms.
For a photo-led food diary with editable estimates and protein remaining, consider 123 Cal. If you only want to stop paying for unused lessons, first check whether a free core diary meets the need.
